Well Simon finally made a brief appearance. Pretty much said that they were part of the team responsible. Also makes it obvious that the father is suspect zero.
Far more likely that Charlie... erm, Simon is Suspect Zero. The physical description fits him much better (IIRC, about 5'8" and 140 lbs. estimated from the security footage), and there's simply no way Commodore Norrington... erm, Mr. Simcoe could have made it from Detroit to Los Angeles in a day, or even two.
