I stopped watching shortly into "part 2," as you describe it. I didn't realize it was a relatively common opinion. I'm tempted to go watch the finale of the show without seeing anything in between, but I'm not sure whether that would be a good idea or not. For now I'm happy watching Stargate Universe, which gives me very strong "BSG season 1" vibes.
