Not without flaws but all around good entertainment. Particularly loved the scenes in which Holmes saw, observed, concluded, explained. And there were plenty of those. Also great chemistry between Downey Jr. and Law. No "Avatar" but good stuff

Saw 'Sherlock Holmes' yesterday. Good fun stuff, nice original take on the Sherlock Holmes legend, they made him into more of a badass and a goof-ball eccentric - actually leaning towards a 'Doctor Who' sort of atmosphere, which was all good!
Strong cinematography did a nice job of creating the atmosphere of old London. Also the creepiness of the implied supernatural elements were effective (a bit 'Doctor Who' like as I mentioned).
Lots of action in this one. The implied super-natural elements thing did start to annoy me because I feared that they were real (which would run totally contrary to the Sherlock Holmes legend based on reason and science) but I was very satisfied with the detailed explanations at the end. All the action might annoy some fans at the first, but there's plenty of detailed clues and intellectual challenges embedded in there - nice intellectual construction and good strong plot with plenty of twists and turns to satisfy celebral yearnings

'Avatar', 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Zombieland' were all above average and good-fun - I'll give them all 8 out of 10, and I do want to see all three again.

I believe it is a convention of the rhetorical question that an answer is not actually invited.

It made it's budget back in the opening weekend. I'd say a sequel is innevitable now. *NM*

Well they were shamelessly plugging a sequel in the last 5 minutes, so I expected no less

It's a good one. If you only have the budget for one movie, pick this one over Avatar.

Just saw this tonight. It might well be one of the only good movies released in 2009.
