Been rewatching Farscape in the past few weeks. At points it's stronger than I remembered, at some points it was weaker. Notably "Revenging Angel", in which Crichton is fighting a coma through Looney Tunes was much less powerful than I remembered. It just sort of, you know, sucked. I thought. And the following epidose, although understandably dark and gritty and philosophical, made no sense in a story telling way. To me.
On the positive hand, the goodbye from Zhaan was much stronger felt this time and I still think that Crichton I's death bed is the most powerful death I have every seen on TV. Minus the obligatory "all characters stand in a room and say something heroic/personal to the dying hero and then leave one-by-one", which was donoe even worse than I had seen it before.
I am really enjoying the goofing off in the show, the buddy/buddy parts and the humour. Sometimes it makes no sense, and that makes the most sense ever in a different galaxy.
The whole season 2/3 cliffhanger/resolution was incredibly badly done. I didn't remember it like that. Dying characters coming back, Crichton who will never speak again speaks again, etc. As if the writers of "Die me, dichotomy" thought "Let's try to think up the very worst ending for the characters possible and leave it for other to resolve. HA!" and left no specific instructions as to how things were going to be resolved.
It did however set up a lot of the plot points that came back with a vengeance later on: e.g. an excuse to edit Zhaan out of the plots, the quote "I came back from the dead. Why can't he?" from Aeryn when she is on a planet where she sees dead people.
Oh, and can we please pretend the whole plot on "Litigara" never happened? The worst "Planet of Hats" I have ever seen.
Overall: still a great series. Loving it.

Castle: This is so weird. I dressed up as him for Halloween.
Beckett: Me too.

Sounds fair enough. Not sure it's worth watching 40ish hours of setup episodes though.

Heh. If you keep going you'll be positively buried in mythology and story arcs.

Each season had a couple of story arcs to it that ran for most of the season... (spoilers)
