Star Trek started out more as a social and political commentary and had the dream of a peaceful world exploring space. A couple of episodes and later films may have been more influenced by SW.
Abrams admits so in the specials to the last DVD, especially when it comes to pacing and the action of a film.
But the themes are pretty much different. Especially the mood and feeling is. I like both. *shrugs*
