They don't know it's a dragon Dai Shan of Malkier Send a noteboard - 06/09/2009 10:19:11 AM
But that begs the question why is Hawkwing's sword found in a scabbard with the red and gold dragon?

Nobody called the creature on Rand's arms, or on the Dragon Banner, a dragon. IIRC, Rand was wondering if the creature was a dragon or not after seeing the banner a few times, and the same went for his arms. It's essentially a snake with legs and hair that people call a dragon for its association with Rand. Before Rand, the only ones who knew about it were the Aiel, and the only real defeats Hawkwing ever had were against the Aiel, so I doubt he knew about how they marked their clan chiefs.

I assumed he remembered it because it was Lews Therin's *NM* - 05/09/2009 05:18:39 AM 411 Views
But he specifically says that it is from his memories and not Lews Therin's *NM* - 05/09/2009 05:20:29 AM 429 Views
Was it just the scabbard or a new sword too? *NM* - 05/09/2009 05:30:11 AM 416 Views
Good question, I'm not sure, tho if I had to guess I'd say just the scabbard *NM* - 05/09/2009 05:33:08 AM 410 Views
