Well, actually, this just brought up an interesting thought for me. Kronin al'Sulc Send a noteboard - 06/09/2009 04:09:06 PM

I think the theory lost some ground after RJ suggested that if women had been present saidar would have been tainted as well. My guess is that if only women had been present saider would have been tainted, but if both men and women had been present, the Bore would have been completely patched and the prison resealed perfectly.

I'm afraid you're barking at the wrong tree with this one, as the quote about it is very clear. It's Lews Therin's plan itself that had a flaw and allowed the backlash. If women had been involved too, the world was doomed:

RJ:
"The result of this was that Lews Therin carried out his plan with only male Aes Sedai, so there were only male Aes Sedai channeling there, which was a lucky thing, because if there’d been women as well, then both saidin and saidar would have been tainted."

If anything, it suggests something other than the One Power will have to be used at the Bore, or Rand will have to devise a method to protect the True Source from any backlash.

It's possible both women and men will have to be involved in the process, but that's not the end of it. Another plan will be devised.

What LTT is beginning to tell Rand musn't be anywhere close to the end of it. LTT himself might be deluded that his plan would have worked with women. If that's what he believes and tells Rand, according to RJ this is wrong.

As there are 3 books' worth of development still coming, the fact Rand is starting from chapter 1 to get LTT to explain the sealing suggests strongly this explanation will be but the beginning of the process of finding the solution. Surely RJ didn't intended to have it all hang on convincing LTT to explain what to do. The concept of what LTT did was flawed, the Fateful Concord opposed it on the very basis it was too risky.

We see a lot of technology growing now, and as tech increases, the AS will be less and less useful. What if Rand uses both men and women to seal the Bore, and they manage to seal the DO of perfectly, but get saidar and saidin tainted, or some similar thing, maybe causing death of channelers, instead of madness. Channelers would die off, allowing the people to enter a true Industrial Age.
At last, I have an apostrophe!
