I was one of those people who thought Mat was "off" and the worst part was his monologue about women being like mules. So I'm happy there's more "RJ Mat" in ToM, I'm hopeful that means there is some "RJ Moiraine" left, and I'm happy that BS is at least aware of people's opinions on Mat.

I did really like the parts where Mat was coming up with the stories, though. I've come to terms with him being "different funny." I'm just worried about Moiraine now.

Sanderson-Mat was a character I would have loved to meet in, say, The Way of Kings (or any other Sanderson book). He was funny, he was good, but he wasn't Mat.

Worth reading for the Mat commentary alone. I feel a lot less concerned about him now - 26/05/2010 05:45:56 AM 943 Views
