I disagree Etzel Send a noteboard - 10/06/2010 08:25:13 AM
Actually, I agree with the idea that we may get an overlapping moment in ToM that brings Graendal back, briefly. BS suggested as much. And I really love the idea that this leads to Arangar bringing down Mesaana. I think it's logical and would read well on the page.

If Graendal died in the end of TGS, it would be completely untypical and confusing for the series, to bring a character who died back in a previous scene. BS also just said that Graendal will be "mentioned" in the book. What BS obviously meant with the overlapping timelines is that he will show us what happened e.g. in Perrin's or Mat's timelines, which aren't at advanced as Rand's (and Graendal's) or Egwene's timeline.

It's also wrong that Graendal and Aran'gar have a close alliance. They just call it an "association", which apparently means that they exchange some informations once in a while, not closely working together. Aran'gar e.g. still doesn't know where Graendal's lair is in the beginning of TGS, as Graendal tells.

DomA's idea makes total sense - a BA comes into the Little Tower and reveals a weave never seen before, and it's a weave that could be used to root out Arangar! If you remember, Mesaana was angry at Arangar for Egwene's capture; Messy was sure that the rebellion would collapse. So not only is Arangar suddenly much less useful, but Arangar is the only other person who can really tamper with Mesaana's AS power base. It makes a lot of sense to just oust Arangar from the place, if not remove her from competition outright. And all Mesaana has to do is show her BA servants an AoL weave...

It doesn't make much sense, considering that both, Aran'gar & Mesaana, are basically working together to unstable the AS. This is also supervised by Moridin and likely SH. That saidin was undetected to kill the AS was rather wanted to suggest that Rand and the Asha'man are behind it to spoil any talks.

RJ must've had a point in showing us that Arangar learns Mesaana's location from Graendal. Graendal also has vast contacts, so it makes sense that this super-smart woman could puzzle it out. It all fits.

Aran'gar already knew that Mesaana is in the WT. In TGS, prologue, Graendal apparently didn't know who Mesaana is exactly. Considering that she had other more urgent tasks regarding Rand on her mind now, it's unlikely that she cared about Mesaana's identity at all.

Etzel, however, is definitely 100% right on Arangar's murder victims. Both women were killed with saidin, remember?

Indeed.
