I would imagine being imprisoned for countless Ages could make Dark One wanting simple death. As it seen in Ishy's mind - to just destroy everything and die. And maybe driving Dragon so hard is the meaning to achieve it - destroy Wheel, destroy universe, death and nothing after that.


The DO can't die, and it's his curse.

Anyway, I think the theory is wrong. The Dark One is a concentration of emotion that we can't understand. When people hear his voice they convulse and feel all sorts of things. It's unlikely he feels despair. What's more likely is that he has hatred and lust as part of his essence that could drive him indefinitely.
