And they were Cabriana's best friends. Aran'gar killed them to cover her tracks darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 10/06/2010 01:48:13 PM
I seriously doubt that we will see Graendal again in the series (Rand's plotline was sufficiently advanced in TGS), or that the new association between Aran'gar & Graendal will play an important plot role (except that Aran'gar might take over Graendal's network now and maybe needs to find a new ally).

Especially the talk between Aran'gar and Mesaana in KoD made IMO pretty clear that of course Aran'gar was behind the murder of Anaiya & Kairen to create more dissension. I also don't buy that Graendal would know, who Mesaana is, or that Aran'gar would seek revenge against Mesaana at this point. Probably Aran'gar simply got a new task by SH.

Actually, I agree with the idea that we may get an overlapping moment in ToM that brings Graendal back, briefly. BS suggested as much. And I really love the idea that this leads to Arangar bringing down Mesaana. I think it's logical and would read well on the page.

DomA's idea makes total sense - a BA comes into the Little Tower and reveals a weave never seen before, and it's a weave that could be used to root out Arangar! If you remember, Mesaana was angry at Arangar for Egwene's capture; Messy was sure that the rebellion would collapse. So not only is Arangar suddenly much less useful, but Arangar is the only other person who can really tamper with Mesaana's AS power base. It makes a lot of sense to just oust Arangar from the place, if not remove her from competition outright. And all Mesaana has to do is show her BA servants an AoL weave...

RJ must've had a point in showing us that Arangar learns Mesaana's location from Graendal. Graendal also has vast contacts, so it makes sense that this super-smart woman could puzzle it out. It all fits.

Etzel, however, is definitely 100% right on Arangar's murder victims. Both women were killed with saidin, remember?

Once Kairen showed up in camp there was a danger that they would compare notes realize that something in Halima's story was really wrong.

Personally I doubt either death had anything to do with a larger plot, just tying off loose ends for Aran'gar... with a side benefit of sowing distrust for male channelers.
Domani Drag Queen in the White Tower ... Aran'gar watch out!
