I'm not sure what dangers she exactly faced. Her cover story was simple enough - she had known Cabriana but not all that well - and no doubt Semirhage got from Cabriana all the details about her and her doings Aran'gar needed to know, about the short period of time she was supposed to have travelled with Cabriana (after the Tower Coup, so there was no way Anayia and Kairen know about this time). She wasn't expected to know intimate details or anything, Aes Sedai keep their distances. A few months later, it would be normal for Halima to have forgotten a few things, and it would be normal for her to have one or two out of place notions about Cabriana. It would really have taken something very wrong and out of place to make Kairen suspicious.


It's mostly Anayia who would have scrutinized all the details, when Halima arrived, and apparently she passed. At best Kairen may have gone and asked Halima a bit more about her friend's death and things like that.

Of what could they have suspected Halima anyway? She knew too much about Cabriana not to have spent time with her as she claimed. Kairen and Anayia could never suspect what was done to Cabriana to get all that information from her. Any wrong detail, they would have brushed off as Halima embellishing things, or remembering it wrong, or aggrandizing her frienship with Cabriana. They could not really suspect she was a fraud.

She was also under the tacit protection of both Egwene, the Amyrlin, and Delana, a Sitter.

If that had to do with her cover story and doubts raised by Kairen when she arrived, then how could Halima know Kairen had talked only to Anayia about it? She took a real risk to kill these two, even more to kill one than only a while later the other (especially if Kairen was already suspicious of something, or asking questions...), and that someone in the Blue wouldn't make the connection to Cabriana and then to her. They could not suspect her of the murders, but they might have suspected she was connected to the man who did.

For all we know, they have made the connection, but the Blues had no idea what to make of that and were just keeping an eye on Halima to see if she had connections to a hidden male channeller in the camp.

If this was a "killing two birds with one stone" move, then Halima would have been much wiser to kill one or two more unrelated women, to make the connection to Cabriana vanish.

It was a really stupid move, all the more when you think this happened post Cleansing, it was openly discussed to ally with the BT and Aran'gar knew very well she had been seen at the Cleansing as a woman channelling saidin by AS and Asha'man, a large number of them. Perfect timing to go kill with saidin two women linked to her cover story and leave evidence behind, wouldn't you say? Aran'gar's position was already precarious. She knew if someone who saw her at the Cleansing showed up, she would have to leave. And it's exactly what happened. When Narisha and Merise showed up - combined with Nacelle's new weave, Aran'gar had to leave. She left before even learning Narishma told the Hall about her.

Perhaps Aran'gar made that move, but it's still stupid of her to have done that. Of course, there's always the fact she probably never suspected the Shadow was behind the proposal of allying with Taim and the BT, but she should have realised Rand's people might show up any time now that saidin is clean and all the more if an embassy to the BT was arranged, and that the last thing she needed was to attract attention on a male channeller hidden with the rebels, and even less create a connection between the women who died and Halima. Romanda had been retired for many years and still remembered that trio, imagine how obvious the connection between Kairen and Anayia must have been for Blue sisters, how obvious it was to also remember their other friend Cabriana had died recently.

As Egwene pointed out, the murders *of course* changed nothing for the Hall, and Delana could have pointed this out to Aran'gar right away. It was obvious to AS this wouldn't changed anything to the Hall's decision.

It's a very weird move from Aran'gar, if it's what it is, though that wouldn't be the only "weird move" Jordan had his characters do. Sometime his rationale for certain events don't make complete sense, or have holes like this, eg: Fain in TGH had heard about the Seanchan from the Myddraal and thought he could build himself a powerbase there... are we really supposed to believe the Myrdraal chatted with Fain in the Fal Dara dungeon about the Seanchan and their hatred of Aes Sedai?
