one point I will make about Kairen though. If you came home from a trip and were told that one of your closest friends had died tragically and the one person in the world who was with her was sitting in front of you wouldn't you go talk to them?

Until we are told otherwise I'm firmly believing Aran'gar killed them to maintain her cover. All of the pieces fit in my mind :)
