You're right. We know Taim is a darkfriend, and it wouldn't be that strange if he gave Rand a fake seal. as saidarisnowtainted said: he cannot test that the seal is heartstone because they are all crumbling. Also, since the seals are not ter'angreal, they wouldn't have any resonance or responce to the OP that would positively identify them as genuine seals. (I don't think) That would be a VERY interesting twist indeed.


But why should Rand be able to tell that the seal is genuine? He can't test its strength as heartsone. He has to be extremely careful with it.

think about it--Rand can't "clear the rubble" without all the seals.


Also consider that Fel was killed quite some time ago for learning that the seals needed to be broken for Rand to succeed. Thus the DO has known about this issue. If Taim was/is a DF, why would he give Rand a real seal? Better to give him a fake. Rand, thinking he has the seal, isnt looking for the real one. When the time comes for Rand to break the seals, nothing happens--because the last real seal hasnt actually been broken.
