Another possibility is that Mazrim Taim have been so far gone into the taint that the Dark One may have corrupted his mind. Perhaps he has become a being similar to Shaidar Haran?

This is all pure, unbridled speculation, though.


In any case, after BS's comment I'm even more intrigued by Taim as a character. I hope we'll finally get a PoV from him in ToM!
