Honestly, Moiraine might really be Black Ajah. It's one of the few big twists that could even begin to make sense and lord knows WoT could use a few of those. It has been entirely too predictable through 12 books. Even the Verin revelation in tGS was pretty "meh" since it's not like she was an evil mastermind masquerading as a good guy - in fact it was just the opposite, which is really not surprising at all (as if the good guys really needed it all handed to them on a silver platter when they're already way ahead). I thought maybe we'd get something shocking from Demandred's identity, but the latest BS quotes posted by Etzel reveal that we've not even seen Demandred's alter ego on screen, so whoever he is, it's not going to shock anyone.

As you alluded to, there are definitely things that Moiraine has said and done that make one scratch his/her head and wonder... "could she really be the character that saves the series from complete predictability?"

Still, the odds of that at the moment are probably pointing to 'no'
