About Ba'alzamon and the Stag & Lion...your answer doesn't fit, I think. Mik Send a noteboard - 03/08/2010 04:08:29 PM
the myddraal found rand at the inn after he had ran into padan fain in the street and told him where the group was staying. if ishamael knew already where he was staying why not just swoop in and get him and the boys? he's not trying to persuade them to join him, hence when they were fleeing baerlon and met the trollocs on the hills they were using hooks and loops to capture them
In the first place, Ishamael was still partially bound. According to Moiraine, he could only appear as a flickering image to the Myrdraal at Shadar Logoth, so he could not go to the Stag and Lion.
Only? You might want to reverse the line of thought there; Ishamael was able to manifest in the real world! The difference was that there were four Myrddraal present. Myrddraal are not completely in phase with reality. Four of them together gave the Shadow enough 'foothold' to be able to manifest, I think. Who knows what and how Ishamael can manifest with -say- just one Myrddraal around. :)

He found where Rand and company were, but that doesn't necessarily pin things down for him.
That's a very vague answer. Care to explain it a little further?

How well did finding the Bowl of the Winds in T'A'R work to give its location in the real world?
Very very well. Need brought the wondergirsl right to the Bowl. But are you seriously comparing finding a stationairy object with Need, to finding a group of moving people with Need?

He doesn't need to know where the Stag & Lion is to kill the rats who live in it and dream their way into Tel'Aran'Rhiod where he is hectoring Rand & co.
So, you expect us to believe that;
a) The Stag & Lion was infested with rats to begin with? It's a very clean and neat Inn, with a cat. And from the cook's words we know that the cat never lets that many in, ever. There's never been a rat problem...there's even a cat that keeps rodents out very well... and all of a sudden half the guests are complaining about more then a dozen dead rats?

b) That even if we suppose the Stag & Lion was a rat-infested dump, that 'over a dozen' somehow dreamed themselves into TAR for Ba'alzamon to break their backs there?

c) That even if we suppose that 'over a dozen' rats had their backs broken while dreaming themselves into TAR, that those rats had fallen alseep at places where half the guests (and the place was loaded with guests) would find them. Doesn't sound like places where a rat would lie down for a nap, right?

Besides, Rand his dream didn't take place at the Stag & Lion. Ba'alzamon pulled the three boys into his own dream/ place.

I think Ba'alzamon found out exactly where they were somewhere during that night (perhaps because of those dreams) and planted those dead rats.
