Rand had been complaining of feeling odd and having a headache since he'd woken up after the rat with the broken back dream. He attributed how he felt to the dream because Perrin was so depressed he didn't even get out of bed and Rand assumed Perrin was feeling the same thing he was. Rand's POV even stated that he knew just how Perrin felt, that he felt so miserable the only reason he was going out at all was because he was afraid his friends would never let him hear the end of it if he missed his first chance to see a 'real city.' RJ practically hits us over the head with it...
The reaction/sicknes he got in Baerlon was a delayed reaction to channelling during the night they fled EF (he relieved Bela of her tiredness). Rand's behaviour in Baerlon wasn't from touching the source, it was the result of the sickness itself (from touching the source over a week earlier), headaches, erratic behaviour etc.
Rand then touched the source again only in the night they fled Shadar Logoth. The delay between touching and reaction was remotely shorter that time: he got sick/mad while on Spray a few days later.
In Four Kings he channelled, and that time the delay was much shorter.
He got over the sickness for good when he channelled at the Eye. The reaction (confusion etc.) was nearly immediate, and he overcame it. After that, it was over.
it wasn't rand who channelled in four kings
