Really cool idea, but I don't think it happened in the world RJ created. He would have mentioned it, or the possibility, at one time or another. He would have written in some clues, he would have said something at a signing... It's way too late in the story to introduce anything this complicated that would require a LOT of exposition just to explain. The last two books are all about winding things down and ending the story line, not introducing entirely new concepts.

I really do like this 'Riftwar' inspired plot twist, it's very Pug. However, I just find it very unlikely now.
