What LTT faced was much, much worse than what Rand has done (so far at least). We're talking about an assault on the Dark One himself even though he is pretty much free. We've seen what happens to people at Shayol Ghul when he is only partly bound - when he is free, it would take the utmost skill, bravery, intelligence and power to survive there, let alone to seal him away.


But Rand will succeed where LTT failed, and he has a better track record against the top tier Forsaken by far. Plus he had much less help taking on Forsaken than LTT did who had a whole army of channelers to help.
