Agreed. Lord of Chaos was the last truly exciting book in the series. *NM*

Ok, after reading those two reviews (and pat's on pats fantasy hotlist) I'm out. I bought The Gathering Storm and thought that it was poor apart from the Tuon/Rand confrontation scene. Rand's epiphany at the end did not convince me, and the idea that a teenager (egwene) would be allowed to become the leader of the most powerful institution in the world is patently ridiculous. It would just not happen.
Books 1-6 were great. Everything after that has been a disaster. Every time a new one comes out I think 'I'm not going to buy this' and end up caving in. Not this time; I have no desire to get this book at all.
Anyway, thanks to the first two reviewers on this thread who have saved me twenty euros.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

I agree with most of the points you both make, but blame Jordan himself far, far more.

My opinion of Jordan's success with the late series differs...

For someone so vehement about the differences between B-Sand and KJA, you reference KA a lot.
