I expect someone else may have mentioned this already, but I haven't been able to find any thread on the subject. So, given that Callandor magnifies Shai'tan's Taint, that Rand and Moridin's link comes from the touching of Moridin's True Power with Rand's own balefire, and that the sword is supposed to make him vulnerable, I suspect that when Rand uses Callandor he may become susceptible to Moridin's influence. This is how it will "bind him by twain" and how the Shadow will attempt to seize him.

That's pretty much it. Fits neatly with some of the existing theories, and sounds simple enough to me.
