Um, Lews went mad, killing his family; his win/loss made crazy rotting beserkers. =Defeat. newyorkersedai Send a noteboard - 18/11/2010 03:07:54 AM
Also, he surely lost many battles, as the Shadow advanced progressively during the War. The CK and Sealing were their last-ditch plans to stop from being overrun, remember?

Then again, I suppose that's not something that should've been revealed in an online 8-page story RJ put out. I do agree that emotional aspects may make a key difference though. There's no reason it can't be humility...

Lews never was defeated. He would never have let himself be defeated, but I think Rand needs to let himself be defeated in order to trick (probably Moridin) into using Callandor to kill him. Thus because of the 'defect' in Callandor the bore will be sealed. If Moridin uses the true source with Callandor to kill Rand there should be no backlash to the one power.

It will not be through a "typical heroic act" that the DO will be defeated, but through humility.
