therefore they would both be dead from balefire that they were not around to make. The pattern fixes paradoxes by shifting after the balefire incident, not by actually going back in time and restarting. This is dependent on the balfire hitting the 2 channelers at the exact same instant in time, which is unlikely in the first place.
