Ituralde in his POV said Rand was using Deathgates and fire weaves like the other Ashaman except larger and more destructive. He would only know about those from seeing the Ashaman use them.

You have to remember also, when we joined the fight, the Ashaman were already exhausted. Fireballs were all they could manage.

I agreed about the wall of air.
