actually, from a basic perspective, "ice" has to either be pure air or air+fire (or, from a physics perspective, "+less fire"
. I'd have to think that AS experimented with that at some point in their 2000(?) year history. And since they seem to have limited air con technology, I'd think it would come in handy - for general (cooling down houses during heatwaves) or advanced (heat/freeze ray) use. Obviously, the AS don't feel the temp, but I'd still think they'd see the applications...
