The women have always been constantly on the side of the Light whereas the boys had to mature to grow to understand what they were fighting for. Destroying their presence in the story would send Rand into a downward spiral that he would never recover from.
It's harder to pinpoint Aviendha's location, but if she could be found and turned, that would work, as well.
