What was Graendal's motivation? - Edit 5

Ok so she killed Asmodean, ok she 'probably' did it herself, not through an agent, BUT what was her GREAT MOTIVATION in killing Asmodean???

I just don't get it, and this seems to be the consesus opinion. It doesn't seem in character for Graendal to gateway 2 inches from Rand, in the heart of the Dragon Reborn with one or more Aes Sedai around (who could sense her) AND to face a male Forsaken (who there was no reason to believe she knew was shielded, and even if Lanfear told her he could have had that shield broken by then).

Putting her OWN LIFE in mortal danger just to get rid of a teacher for Rand? No no no no no no.

MAYBE using an agent, but coming in person? No, this isnt the Cleansing; no one was forcing her to do it.

Ok, so now let's take a different tact. She wasn't there to murder Asmodean, she just so happened to have taken advantage of the situation. Hmmm... what the hell was she 'just doing there'?

She came to spy IN PERSON? Why??? She has tons of eyes and ears, BA and Darkfriends at her disposal, why put her life at risk???

With Graendal's personality it seems akin to the Queen of England going out to buy toilet paper, it just doesnt make sense when you have people to do those things for you.

She doesnt take risks on her life unless she has to, she doesnt need to come in person to spy, and if she didnt come to murder him then she really has no purpose of being there. If she did come to murder him she took an exceptional risk to get herself killed or captured.

What if Rand had been there WITH Asmodean? He was with him almost all of the time, so there was a definite chance of Rand being there at that moment. Would she really have taken the chance to face an unshielded Asmodean AND Rand?

What if she didnt know that Moirane was gone? She surely would have had her ass balefired so fast her head would spin!!!

I dont know what RJ really intended and we will probably never know, but it makes little logical sense it would be Graendal. It totally seems like a retcon of the story, a way to point at Graendal and lay more blame at her feet. I think I'd eat my hat if I could see an original paper with RJ stating it was Graendal.

Who had the most motivation of anyone? Lanfear of course. If it wasnt for Asmodean, Rand probably wouldnt have been able to even fend Lanfear off. If Graendal could be written to have escaped the balefiring of her palace by looking through the eyes of a bird using the True Power and Arangar could be written to be stupid enough to sit there and not move her ass while she could feel Rand pulling in gargantuan amounts of Saidin then I think a story could have been written to allow Lanfear to exact her revenge on Asmodean.

Irregardless, WHAT do YOU think was Graendal's 'motivation' in purposely coming to murder Asmodean OR even purposely coming within 2 inches of Rand, Asmodean, and other Aes Sedai to 'accidentally' have the chance to kill Asmodean?
