I am not sure that RJ had that much of the series planned out after the first few chapters of book 1. It was originally supposed to be a 3 book series. He must have had the main events planned out like Tarmon Gaiden.

I dont think it was an intentional foreshadow. I'd be surprised if I were wrong.
