As for the rest, it's all really circumstantial stuff. On the other hand, Thom helped major Light Side characters numerous times. It's possible, but way, way unlikely. Why would a Darkfriend go to save Moiraine, and help Rand, Nynaeve and Elayne?

Nothing strange about the fact that Thom knew Fain. He was a gleeman working in the similar area as Fain did, chances are they've met in some villages before.


Yes, your right, tGH has all blurred together for me (thus the reread). In any case it makes no sense that he would help the light...unless ordered to. That is highly unlikely though.

The Fain-Thom connection though is still strange. The likelihood of them meeting up when they are both highly mobile over the area they both covered is small. It could have happened yes, but it’s just strange that these two would have met previously and then both become players in the series.
