Okay, in modern times if one dips a blade into liquid nitrogen, the effect are very sweet. Basically, the best was to harden the steel. and also could have been how AoL'er forged power wrought blades.
I ran into a historical account that warriors of old would stab newly forged blades into the flesh of prisoners to cool the metal.
Now this struck me as a pretty "evil" method of getting a similar effect. The organic Nitrogen actually bonds into the blade and makes it uber strong.
thoughts?
