Some of the prophecies might have been corrupted, but we've heard a few exclusively-Seanchan prophecies that turned out to be true, so we can't reject it purely on that basis.

On the other hand, it does seem pretty much incompatible with "he will bind the nine moons to serve him", one we know to be true, and which has yet to happen. Hmmm.

Really though, there doesn't seem to be enough time left to tie up this rather major plotline. tGS ended with TG just around the corner.
