Welcome to the new Wheel of Time MB!

As Robert Jordan would put it, we thought we would never survive the Breaking of the World, where we lost everything. Approximately a decade of discussion, knowledge, research and friendship - and almost all of it was silenced in a heartbeat. And yet, we saw how the good citizens and Aes Sedai of the third Age picked up the pieces and started again. We have lost many colleagues in the transition, but some have survived, and every day brings the promise of new readers who have read Robert's work, and found it irresistible. Much has been lost, perhaps forever, but here we are to rebuild our Wheel of Time community, and to make sure that the discussion of everything from Lini to Lanfear takes place as vociferously as ever.

If you are an old hand to the board, then you know how to post and are encouraged to do so. If you are new to the board, don't be shy. You may think that your question is foolish or obvious, but you may spawn an interesting debate and receive your answer at the same time.

To be a successful message board, we need to lay down some ground rules, to prevent a fall into barbarism. If you follow these guidelines, you should experience no problems here...

1. Your post must relate to the Wheel of Time directly. Anything else must be placed on one of the other boards.

2. Your post should have a certain quality of writing to it. This means that you should introduce a well thought-out or researched idea and introduce a meaningful discussion to the board. Quotes or references from the series are the best way to substantiate your posts. Check your spelling before posting, and select the right category to post your idea.

3. Frivolous posts will be limited. While good humorous posts are encouraged, ridiculous posts and surveys will be limited so as to keep the balance between content and nonsense on our site. Spam and extreme threadjacks will also be limited. If a poster feels that their post has been violated by spam or threadjacking, they can NB me and I'll look into it.

4. The following is banned on the board : swearing, open sexual or related vulgarities, and bigotry against another poster's sex, race, sexual orientation, religion, culture or otherwise. Try and keep debates centered on Wheel of Time, and don't make them personal. Anyone who feels that another poster's conduct is unacceptable should NB me and I'll look into it. You should be warned that this is not a simple issue to resolve. Certain severe attacks on posters will obviously be addressed, but the board is not going to be robbed of emotion either. Heated debates often make for the best Wheel of Time threads, and posts will not be edited or deleted just because another poster couldn't tolerate being called a 'fool' for his opinion. In summary - if you're a pig, learn some manners... if you're very sensitive, lighten up.

5. Trolling is not allowed. Although constructive criticism is important to any board, your post should have some sort of positive spin on it. You may write why you dislike some books compared to others, or why you cannot stand some characters compared to others. You may not come to this board and write about why you hate Robert Jordan and all his work. It cannot be a useful post on a board devoted to RJ's work, and you are obviously lost, or intent on inciting anger.

Please take notice of these rules, and be assured that they will be enforced to a much greater degree than they were on wotmania.

You can contact me about any queries or anything that concerns you on the board.

Good posting!

Sidious
