The Wot reference material was nice to have such as the encyclopedia and chapter summary/search. So of the minor characters appeared so infrequently that it was very nice to be able to either find them in the encyclopedia to remember who they are and their importance to the story line. Failing that they could be found in chapter search, then the appropriate book chapter could be re-read quickly.
