But it makes much less sense - the greater strength of men in general has had negligible impact

Aside from the sheer strength of Rand, who was always assumed to be stronger than anyone by virtue of who and what he was, there has been little to no acknowledgment of this in the series itself, beyond possibly explaining why a circle is always used on a man. The things that are likely un-ironed details would include the Reds watching Logain so closely that Rand commented. In fact, from what we later see, they would feel any interference with the shield and have no need to physically watch him (why would they put the most dangerous channeler they have ever taken [Rand]in a box, AFTER he has shown how dangerous he can be by killing the Warders? ). There's other stuff, but Dom's rationale makes too much sense to write those things off as writer errors.

think the most likely answer is that RJ hadn't yet ironed out all of the details concerning the OP *NM*

It's of more interest to fans than to anyone else (except, I guess, Aes Sedai).

I love that scene, mainly because it made her think twice about glibly thinking he's crazy.

Early Moiraine sucks. Actually, pre-finn Moiraine sucks. We should really be hoping for a change.

I still think Moiraine's Illian plan for Rand was the most epic fail in the series

Personally, I think it has everything to do with the sparks and not the Power.
