Not his style to get caught anyway Terez Send a noteboard - 24/09/2012 10:06:22 PM
He was too much of a storyteller to be completely honest all the time. But I think that he might have stretched the truth in a few situations where he knew his secret was probably safe. Harriet has referenced him doing this, but I think he was probably much more careful with fans than he was with her. :) For example, things I can see him lying about: Whether he changed his mind on Taimandred. Whether there really was a fourth boy from the Two Rivers or whether it was just an in-joke between him and Harriet on DKS' art. Etc. But things like this? Definitely not his style.

I do have to say that Sanderson's remarks make me wonder whether Jordan didn't just lie about Demandred to try to muddy the waters about who he really is, in which case he could be anyone (other than, of course, Taim, since the two were in the same room together and seem to hate each other).

For anyone who's very familiar with the Jordan quotes, he wasn't in the habit of lying. He gave a few "Aes Sedai answers", but no straight lie (answers suspected of being wrong mostly sound like honest mistakes on his part or badly reported non verbatim answers. Some of those he corrected in later Q&A). He simply RAFOed stuff a lot, even RAFOing stuff he didn't have to because he knew we read tons in those RAFOs and it amused him.

Basically, RJ really loved the WOT theorizing phenomenon, but as far as we can tell, he played fair with us... that is respecting the "Aes Sedai rules". By the time he had his blog, and later during his disease, he became a lot more talkative, giving some answers straight out he had long RAFOed.
