i offer up this evidence from the chorus of the song "I am I said":
"I am" I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am" I cried
"I am Sedai"
And I am lost and I can't even say why
Leavin me lonely still
in the first part we see that not only is Neil talking to himself (i.e. "no one there"
but he is expecting a response from his chair, even though we all know that chairs are inanimate objects. this is definitely a sign of madness, and judging by the date this song was released it's a wonder mr. diamond has lasted this long.
and in the second part of the chorus he just goes right out and admits his channeling ability. he also mentions feeling lost, disoriented, and lonely -- all signs of the madness that takes men who can channel. again, this song was released in 1971 so it's nothing short of a miracle not only that neil diamond wasn't gentled many years ago, but that he continued to live a somewhat healthy life for over 30 years.

since clint eastwood's conversation with an empty chair onstage at the republican national convention, i have to wonder if clint can also channel and should possibly be gentled at this point. and to think, clint went mad AFTER saidin was cleansed.....
