I enjoyed the book as entertainment beckstcw Send a noteboard - 09/01/2013 05:47:22 AM
But as an ending to the series I thought it was flawed. It seemed to me like all the lauded complexity and depth of WOT was wasted on a fin-fictiony ending. All those dozens of subplots and hundreds of secondary characters and beautiful world building...and in the end we got 800 pages of people killing Trollocs and then an ending with no closure. As exciting and well-written as the Trolloc-killing was, the series deserved better IMO

For crying out loud, we waited 20 years for Rand to meet Moiraine again, and then we got like maybe a page and a half of them interacting before it turned into a tower defense flash game. The series as a whole was always about the characters, and I felt like the characters were shunted off to the side to make room for the Tarmon Gaidon spectacle.
