If he stuck around he'd be made to rule. Also he just made a contract that gets as close to enforcing peace as feasible on the specific proviso of his death. If he doesn't die, the chances of someone, let's be obvious and say Tuon, deciding it doesn't count and starting a intercontinental war that Seanchan will inevitably win is rather high.
Thats a good point, I hadn't thought of that. And the Seanchan seemed to be the only army that wasn't decimated in the fighting too.
So, is anyone else thinking that ending was a bit of a dick move....
