Egwene - The White Tower must be in charge of everything
- Never willing to be subservient

Cadsuane - Willing to sacrifice the whole tower if necessary to save the world
- Willing to take orders from others even if she believes she should be in charge

... and the pattern picks...... Cadsuane


Egwene is killed off by the pattern because of her rigidity in her belief of the supremacy of the White Tower. The pattern wants more balance in the world, Egwene would not bend, the pattern replaces Egwene as Amrylin.

The previous Amylin that almost had all of the westlands united under the authority of the White Tower - dead just before she could achieve her goal. The pattern wanted balance.

Does the Devil ever struggle to be good again, or if so is he not a devil?
