I wouldn't expect them to drop dead instantly, but I can imagine that reproduction might be a problem now that the Blight is fading. I always had the impression they needed the evil atmosphere there to breed. If not, why have they not sneaked down to Caralain grass or other dehabitated areas to establish tribes there in the last 200 years?
