AMOL reread: The Aiel MikeyMikeyMikey Send a noteboard - 18/12/2015 11:48:37 AM

So, having had a very much disappointing read through the Companion, I realised that I didn't really remember much of what happened in AMOL, so decided a reread was in order. It's my first read through since it originally came out, although I have tried a couple of times. I think that's one of the upsetting things about this book - I've read the earlier books in the series time and time again, but this one doesn't feel like it warrants that level of comfort in a way.

Anyway, one of the things that struck me was the lack of darkfriends amongst the Aiel.

I know that we see the Red Veils quite a lot, and that we lose Rhuarc through Compulsion (and a heavy lack of emotional impact, just like with Suian), but these are a people who have had a heavy presence throughout the majority of the series, and we only see one darkfriends very early on?

I had hoped that at least one of the Wise Ones would be shown to be a darkfriends - my money was on Bair

I feel like there was a theory way back when about Bair as a DF - 18/12/2015 06:12:45 PM 369 Views
