My response was moreso tongue-in-cheek just out of some form of happiness in seeing you still on the anti-Egwene train. Obviously, this is all in good fun since none of the characters in WoT are quite fleshed out enough to really map to a real person and we generally do not know the true personalities and beliefs of current and ancient politicians.

If I were to play along, I would actually say that Hillary Clinton is more similar to Siuan Sanche - I support the pragmatic approach they favor and an understanding of their approach to managing factions but I do not necessarily agree with supporting the establishment for the sake of the establishment. I've heard enough from friends who worked in the Clinton White House and on both campaigns, and who know her, to suggest that the question of whether Hillary was the right messenger for the times (i.e. confronting a non-conservative, non-Republican propped up by a shadow behind-the-scenes big-money extremist elite with the right buzz words and the right election cycle to put any establishment politician on their weak foot) was seriously considered during the campaign showing both a sense of humility while Hillary's miss-steps on the campaign trail shows her simultaneous bad habit of hubris to really remind me of Siuan.

Egwene, especially after her moment of truth, really was not accepting of the status quo enough to be "establishment". And, of course, she is part of a younger generation. Neither she nor Rand really have easy real-life analogs IMHO because their souls are spun out in very specific times of change but which are different from the real world. As Dan Carlin would say, leadership in times of chaos is a roll of the dice...IMHO, Rand, Egwene, and Co. represent the closest to a strong leader including the ideals and foibles great personalities have, with limited weaknesses. In the real world, it is completely possible to have a dearth or lack of enough dynamic leaders to step up in times of crises and have a civilization fail. The Wheel tends to counteract this tendency in times of reality-threatening chaos.

Anyway, I'm not really reflected in the American party system. I'm pro-free market but I also think there are some things the founding fathers did not conceive of and which current society/civilization requires government to manage now - as Jefferson noted, the natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground...however, the balance IMO is to find which ground government should hold and where the market should reign, not necessarily disposing of all of it or limiting it from the ability to expand in areas that are found to need governance beyond the public square and market. I'm no SJW despite being a gay minority (I think some of it is almost creepily totalitarian) and I don't like government being involved in most of my personal business. I spend most of my time reading and engaging in charity. I've been an Independent most of my life and the most I can say in relation to WoT is that most of the institutions are distasteful to me and I support most of the reformers...my old position was that Egwene messed up by not throwing out the Old Tower and making an all new one with all channeling groups in the West, including the Black Tower, being represented, which obviously was what she was working towards though at the time, I thought she could have picked up the slack from Rand's abject failure with the Black Tower then.
