Name competitions are close to the fastest way to cheapen something. I can't believe that any respectable author could consider this, even if the characters are completely irrelevant.

It violates almost everything that is special to a fantasy series, least of all including reality. Some of those names aren't even WoT-like.. Eric, Fitzgerald, Han...

I'm just glad Barbie from QoTW wasn't included. Reading about Barbie Sedai would just be too much.

I really hate it when people have to reduce classy things into cereal box quality popularity shows just to get a small and transient rise out of the masses.


See, Dark Lord or whatever you are, I think it was done this time more as a gift to us. This isn't a normal book series. There is a very big group of core followers who have devoted a large chunk of their lives to this series. We're not talking a handful of years. In many cases its more than a decade. It wasn't done in such a way as to draw fans in but to reward fans for dedication. Or that's how I've seen it.

Also, he said adapted them. We don't know what that means.
