When I think of the major roles, I tend to think of the characters that accomplish things that push the story forward. Galad, for the most part, has not been one of these characters...he seems to be pushed by the momentum of events rather than a combination of his own determination and the movement of the story. So I don't necessarily think kings, queens, VIPs, t'a'veren and etc have major roles - Perrin is a t'a'averen, for example, and next to Verin, Cadsuane or Lan, he really hasn't done anything of note.
