Gawyn I can only hope, but are we supposed to infer that he is a better swordsman than Lan since

Sleet < Lan 5 out of 7 times.

Gawyn > Sleet in a 2 vs 1. Seems a bit odd to me


Hammer consistently beat Gawyn in sparring but Gawyn killed him. The darkfriend baldemaster in New Spring was better than Lan but Lan killed him. The Seanchan high lord Rand fought in TGH was better but Rand killed him. Valda was better than Galad but Galad won.

Wonder who this guy is, would have to be another Warder or a Borderlander I'd think.


I mean I agree, its seems a lot to be a case of sheathe the sword, or an unnatural advantage in concentration like Rand's.

But they're both sparring. They're both trying at whatever level that sparring is of combat that you want to assign it. You can't tell me that Lan would take someone less seriously and thus not try as hard as they are, that seems like something that forms a bad habit.
