With each passing book it becomes more and more obvious that Rand is similar to the Fisher on Moridin’s sha’rah game:
The Fisher was always worked as a man, a bandage blinding his eyes and one hand pressed to his side, a few drops of blood dripping through his fingers.
We know that in sha’rah there are three ways to win:
1. Controlling the Fisher and moving him to a square of your color behind your opponent’s end of the board.
2. If your opponent controls the Fisher and you leave him no choice but to move onto your color.
3. Complete annihilation of your enemy, which can only be played if you took that route “before letting yourself get trapped”, which means there is likely some triggering event before you can choose this option and let the game to degenerate into a “bloody melee”.
It is clear that the actual struggle between the Dark One and the Creator is working in parallel to the sha’rah game. The Dark One has been manipulating Rand in an attempt to take control of him. Moridin in particular is intimately connected with this effort, which is why Rand sees him in his head (see p.235-236 of The Gathering Storm).
It seems to me that the only logical conclusion that can be drawn is that Rand’s body will be taken over by the Shadow, by Moridin in particular. Jordan, in the very first book, alluded to “myths” of a forgotten past that are certainly not coincidental – Materese of Ind (Mother Theresa of India) and Mosk (Moscow) and Merk (America) as giants who hurled spears at each other. At the same time, the iconography of Rand al’Thor is a complete inversion of our understanding of those symbols.
Rand is a reincarnation of Lews Therin, a name that sounds like Lucifer. He is the Dragon, which is the symbol of Satan in the Book of Revelation. His hand is marked, like that of the Beast.
Furthermore, we know that, to live, he must die. This means there is some means by which Rand can survive T’armon Gaidon (Armageddon). It has been stated multiple times that death cannot be Healed. I do not think that this precept would be violated as it seems to be a complete repudiation of the power of the Creator. However, that doesn’t mean that a life couldn’t be transferred from a living body to a freshly dead body.
The body in question would be that of Logain. Logain is a man who radiated an overwhelming light and glory in Min’s vision, something that shocked her. She didn’t think it was possible. Of course, Logain sounds like Logos, the Greek concept of harmony that is translated in the opening passages of the Gospel of John as “the Word”. Logain may die, and Rand will need his body, which will make him seem to rise and make Rand seem to die. At that point Moridin will control the Fisher.
The entire world will see the Dragon go to the Shadow, and Logain will stand to stop the Dark One and win the Last Battle for the forces of good. Few will know Rand or recognize him (another thing we’ve heard of).
And what might be “unusual” about his children after the battle? Why, the fact that they look nothing like Rand.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
