A more powerful Gollum(Smeagle), as in the Lord of The Rings? Rand standing on the edge or in the Pit of Doom, unwilling to destroy the two Women he is tied to (Aviendha and Nynaeve) while using Callandor, somehow falling into the Pit of Doom, and becoming the effective barrier between the dark one and the world. Isn't that plausible by virtue of the powerful magnetic push between the two evil polarities that he will be able to be a form of sealant? Just watched "Return" last night and wondered if he is going to be an integral and unwilling part of Rand's eventual success in the last battle as Gollum was for Tolkien. Or maybe I had too much Ben and Jerry's...
