Good point, I think in many ways, Rand is 'becoming' LTT. Nothing particularly sinister. But LTT appears as a thought in Rand's head. If you had thoughts appearing in your head from a person 3000 years ago, it's only natural that this would show through in your personality eventually.

Of course, this doesn't come close to explaining the whole situation, but I think could play a part.

Also, Rand has been through some pretty traumatic experiences over the past couple of years of his life. He's gone from an uncomplicated life on a farm, to where he is now. He's seen a lot of death. He's had his past, and to some extent, his future revealed to him. He's about to be a father, his dreams have been haunted. He just lost a hand. He's been hunted by the most dreadful being in the world, and 13 of his henchmen. Oh, and he's expected to save the world and die in the process.

Moiraine taught him as much as she could before the encounter with Lanfear, but Rand is still not made to be a ruler, and he is constantly infuriated by people not following his orders.

It's no surprise he's struggling to hold it together really.
