Re: Thank you Ken for the report. You aren't pulling our leg are you? - Edit 1

It would be a fine joke if you were pulling our legs with the report. I've been fearful that sort of thing would happen at least once. Are you pulling our leg?

Nope - this is totally honest. The official report should go up at DM once it's written (one of the other SL is doing that).

Anyway, the one power strength quotes were these:

Taken in context, the "she" and "her" probably refer to Nynaeve, don't you agree?

Another thing to think about is whether the "new" list compares Nynaeve's current strength or Nynaeve's potential strength. That could change things in the discussion.

Yes, she and her refer to Nynaeve - I should have been more clear in my wording. Very few of the quotes from my report are direct quotes from Brandon. Brandon believes that Nynaeve is stronger than Semi, but only by a very little bit.

I think it's pretty well believed that Nynaeve is already at her potential (the cleansing surely put her there if she wasn't there already). But I would guess that any list of strength would be for full potential.

Your comments about Mesaana are interesting. Brandon seems to imply that it's almost as if the Forsaken have a different measuring stick to go by. Because many of the Forsaken are extremely strong, then Mesaana can look weak next to them. The way Brandon worded it, it still appears to be true that Mesaana is stronger than most regular Aes Sedai.

Yes, relative to other forsaken, Mesaana is weak. Relative to AS, Mesaana is still incredibly strong - we get Sheriam's POV when she meets with Mesaana and Sheriam considers her incredibly strong. I would guess that while Mesaana isn't as strong as Nynaeve, she's still a good be stronger than Egwene and Elayne.

Something else to consider. I wonder if Brandon was distinguishing between quantity of one power that can be channeled, and overall "power." If "power" is measured by both quantity and skill, then that could change rankings as well. Anyway, I find your report to be really great. Thanks.

My impression is that we were talking about raw strength. There was no discussion on knowledge, reaction, and dexterity which would all come into play in an actual duel.

Did Brandon just say that Cyndane was very very weak (in general) or was he comparing Cyndane to her former self of Lanfear? In context the discussion first talked about Lanfear and then compared Cyndane to Lanfear. Maybe Brandon meant Cyndane is weak compared to Lanfear?

I asked about Cydane's power in relation to Nynaeve and he said much, much weaker. Cyndane is a very weak channeler. As pointed out, this isn't consistent with what we've seen previously in the text.
